Taking a LockDown Exam
The SOLE LockDown Browser is a secure browser for taking exams within SOLE, designed to prevent printing, copying, navigating to other URLs, or accessing other applications. When enabled, exams cannot be taken with a standard browser and should only be accessed through the SOLE LockDown Browser.
The LockDown Browser launches automatically when students access a SOLE exam requiring it. Students should not attempt to launch the browser directly, as this will result in an access error. If this occurs, simply exit and relaunch the exam from within SOLE.
Note for Yoga S1 Edge users: Do not take a LockDown Exam in tablet mode.
Steps to Launch and Complete an Exam in SOLE LockDown Browser
-
Close all programs (except for any required to connect to the Internet).
-
In SOLE, navigate to the correct course from the homepage.
- Important: Access the LockDown Browser only by launching the exam within SOLE. Opening the browser first will cause issues with accessing your exam.
-
Select Exams from the Assessment section and choose the appropriate exam. If linked, you can also access the exam through Content in your course.
-
Click the green Launch Exam button. If the exam requires a password, enter it as provided by your instructor before launching.
-
During the exam:
- You will be unable to exit the LockDown Browser until you click Submit.
- If a calculator is enabled, you can access it by clicking the View Calculator button in the top right.
-
After Submitting the Exam:
- The browser will return to the exam page, but you’ll remain within the LockDown Browser.
- To exit, click the X in the top right corner twice, or use the gray Exit LockDown Browser button on the Exam Details page.
