Linking Content to Gradebook

Gradable Content Objects (Assignments, Chat, Discussion, Journal, etc.) can be linked to the Gradebook. The Gradebook tab allows you to create a link that will help you grade the object as you are viewing it.

While some Content Objects give you the option to link to Gradebook, there are also some (Assignments, Journals, TurnItIn assignments) that are automatically added to the Gradebook and will ask you to set the Gradebook settings from within the General Tab as well. Please view the pages below for individual tools for more details on Gradebook settings for different types of Content Objects:

  1. Chat
  2. Discussions
  3. Journal
  4. Signup List
  5. Forms
  6. Assignments
  7. Exams
  8. Surveys
  9. TurnItIn
  10. Live Polling

If you have assigned a Content Object to be released at a future date through Availability Settings, applied an Access Control that does not include you, or assigned a Dependent Release, the Content Object will be grayed out in the Administrator's view. The student(s) who should not will NOT see the Object until all criteria are met. View the Permissions Summary to see a report of all permissions applied to a content object.

The more settings that are added to a Content Object, the better the course experience is for the student. Utilizing the Calendar Settings for an object will allow it to be searched by date and appear on the calendar. Adding Access Control settings will allow you to determine who can access the Content. Using Dependent Release will allow you to determine who can access the content based on the completions of a preceding Content Object. If the Gradebook tab is available, you can add ease of use for grading content objects.
