About SOLE

SOLE (Secure OnLine Environment) is a portal for online education and information. It is a web-based tool for students to access courses and for instructors to build and maintain those courses. Developed by HSC Information Technology Services as an open-ended system for online course development and management, SOLE harnesses the communication power of the Internet within a single-login, user-friendly environment. SOLE began as a course delivery system, but has grown to become an environment for many other applications and resources.

  • Organized interface featuring courses and sites, announcements, links, weather, calendar, classified ads, news, and social media
  • Portal homepage with customizable themes and panel arrangement
  • Automatic authentication to secure sites and internal database/resources
  • One-click authentication to other secure sites needing an additional username and password
  • Integrated email
  • Recording and tracking of community service hours/donations
  • Personal file manager with up to 1 GB of storage
  • Ability to create and maintain a personal website

  • “SOLE Today” homepage setup provides a course overview, summarizing any changes made in the last 7 days
  • Various types of file formats supported: Flash, streaming media, video, PDF, PowerPoint, Camtasia, etc.
  • Online trouble ticket system makes it easy to get technical assistance

  • Announcements, calendar of course-related events and instructor-assigned course schedule
